About Embroidery

We have what it takes to make your logo shine. Although much of the process has been automated over the years, embroidery remains an art, not a science. There is a history and nuance to the craft that we are proud to maintain.

Embroidery brings a depth and dimension to your logo that is impossible to achieve in printing.  Upon viewing your embroidered logo for the first time, we hope you'll be amazed by the beauty and luster of the different color threads, and genuinely impressed with how the light reflects your logo's details.

What Will Your Embroidered Logo Look Like?

Our embroidered logos are three dimensional because they are sewn, not printed, onto the clothing and accessories we offer. The thickness of the thread provides the third dimension. Embroidery involves a needle piercing a piece of fabric several thousand times, pulling the thread behind it. Due to the physical limitations of this process, we sometimes have to make minor changes to a logo's design to achieve optimal results. This mostly involves simplifying details and resizing or repositioning text.

We've been embroidering for more than 40 years and have learned a lot about what works and what doesn't. Based on this experience, we limit the size of the logos we produce to a maximum of 11,000 stitches. In other words, we will format your logo for embroidery so that the needle pierces the fabric no more than 11,000 times. We define this as a standard-size logo.

Logos larger than 11,000 stitches distort garments to a degree we find unacceptable. This causes the logo to curl in on itself so that the fabric can't lay flat. This is unattractive and uncomfortable to wear. Logos that require more than 11,000 stitches work better as patches, instead of the direct to garment embroidery that we produce.

In an effort to simplify and improve our embroidery production process, we limit logos to 15 different thread colors per logo (most logos use less than 5). Of these 15 colors, our most popular 9 "standard" colors are always loaded on every machine and all 9 of these colors can be used in your logo. Along with these 9 thread colors, you can also use up to 6 "additional" colors from a wide array of supplemental colors.

Pictured on the right are examples of standard-size logos, both the original design and how we formatted them for embroidery. Our maximum size for embroidered logos is 4x4 inches on apparel and accessories, 2x4 inches for hats, and 1x4 inches for visors. Our artists will size the logos appropriately during initial setup.

Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge a set up fee to translate your logo into an embroidered work of art. We're confident that our products and people will win you over and that you'll be a Queensboro customer for a long, long time. We're not looking for a short term revenue boost, we want to build a long-term relationship.

We understand the importance of your logo and the pride and hard work it represents. That is why we guarantee that you will be satisfied with each embroidered item you receive from us. If you are not, we'll make it right. If we can't, we'll refund your purchase.
